The Doctor 2005

Syrah 100%

Colour: Rich bright deep velvet crimson

Aroma: Leaping out of the glass ripe black berry fruits, engagingly aromatic with complex forest fruit undertones.

Palate: Ripe tannins with a balanced structure the wine displays the fruit characters well with hints of Dutch liquorice, black pepper and heritage plums over a balanced and elegant mid palate and a seriously long finish...Drinking now to 2015

Winemaker’s notes: An approachable wine now with plenty to offer those serious about cellaring. Elegant fruit and balanced power and weight make The Doctor a joy on its own; evolving in the glass it will partner most meat dishes.

The Doctor: an explanation

The name The Doctor comes from a number of things, but mainly : It is the initials of our winemaker David Ramonteu (who looks a little like a mad scientist doctor type) and secondly, we feel the Syrah is exactly what the Doctor ordered!

the following excerpt may give a clue- it will be on the NZ and UK label but does not fit on the US label due to the Surgeon generals warning about the driving ability of pregnant women...

A beautiful sunrise, a sunset serene
a cooling breeze, a dark pool in a stream
All the beauty nature afforded,
these are just what the Doctor ordered.

We were thinking of calling the wine Virgins Kiss (because its had all the careful handling but the kiss) but since there are a heap more Doctors than virgins that buy $60-00 bottles of wine we figured the Doctor worked fairly well....
