Firstly we have had a great run of locals coming to the cellar door to enter the competition for dinner for four at Diva, in Havelock North. There is still loads more time, so come on over, try some wine and enter. All you have to do is say you get the newsletter, and you are in the draw. Too easy.
Hatton Estates Number One Dish
When hosting a dinner party last week Colleen (Co-owner and long suffering wife of travel diary Michael) again highlighted her brilliance by whipping up the greatest dish of all time. Hot Cheese Spinach Dip. So good it should be illegal. We all want to marry Colleen now.
We had it with Verve, and Le Brun No1, as well as a little EC2.
Use it for dinner parties, or if you just want to get fat and lazy at home alone. We cannot sing its praises enough, and it is easy to boot. As a good rule of thumb, if Rachel can cook it, then it will be gauranteed to be quick and foolproof, and Rachel can cook this one. If you have cooked nothing from our website before at least bang this one together. It wont let you down.
Click here and get it in you.
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to Martin Bosleys Yacht Club, they turn 5 on September 11, so pop in and pass on your regards, celebrate with a glass of Hatton Estate. They stock EC2, Carson’s Cabernets and Syrah. If you are lucky enough to get invited to their birthday lunch keep your eyes (and mouths) open for EC2 matched with crispy skin salmon, celerac, apple remoulade, ham braised turnips and a ham foam. Damn! that sounds good. I think there is still time to get in and get friends with Martin to try and convince him to invite you, just for that meal. (good luck).
Do you have some friends getting all enthusiastic with our recipes and holding a dinner parties? Need something to take along? Swing past Caros in Parnell and pick up a bottle of our wine. It is such a wonderful store, with really fast and friendly staff. Just say we sent you, they will sort you out. Not in Auckland? Then click here to see where you can get our wine near you. If that doesnt help, send Michael an email for our new courier service throudirect to most countries.
Doctors
Are you a doctor? Tell us what kind of doctor you are when you order our new release Syrah the Doctor 2005 and we will ship your wine free within New Zealand.
If you are not a doctor, that is fine too, just drop by the cellar door and holler “is there a doctor in the house” and you will be privy to some hot deals.
This month: Rose 2006. You can get a case for only $10 a bottle. That is just silly cheap! Click here and read more.
On the off chance that you can not make it to sunny Hawkes Bay to yell at Simon in the cellar door, and you are not a doctor then use technology to do the yelling for you. Send us an email screaming out the question and you can qualify too.
So here is our address for you to drop in: 124 Gimblett Road, R.D 5 Hastings, just off State Highway 50. Easy.
Spotted
Hatton Estate was spotted being consumed at The Beehive (NZ's Parliment Buildings for those offshore) for the Springboks / All Blacks dinner just a few weeks back. We didn’t realise rugby players were allowed to drink wine between games - but with the size of the "entourage" these days there sure were many willing participants, and we do appreciate how the support goes both ways.
In the same august venue Scotts College Old Boys had a reunion dinner where our Carsons Cabernet Merlot 2003 was served and enjoyed. We have a little of the wine left so if you were at either of the two functions and would like to buy some of the wine CLICK HERE to get a 6 pack of Carsons Cabernet/Merlot 2003 for just 105 dollars!
Thats all for now, though we are still waiting to see if anyone built the smoke house from the last newsletter.
Eat well and drink better.
Regards
Michael & The team at Hatton Estate
