Vintage 2004
Chardonnay (Clone 15) 100%
Unoaked Colour: Clean clear warm straw.
Nose: Pear, melon, grapefruit, mineral undertones.
Palate: Clean fruit, citrus and pear, good depth and richness of ripe chardonnay- no oak! Refreshingly crisp acidity, structured, wide mid-palette depth, good mineral and fruit on the finish. Very more-ish! Great drinking for spring/summer, as a delightful aperitif wine or perfect with seafood - grilled lobster or sea bass. Especially good with Pacific Rim cuisine, pasta or vegetarian dishes such as tomato tart. Winemaker’s notes: Follows on perfectly from previous vintages, remains Chablis-like, open and alluring after time in glass, classy- “Summer in a glass” that leaves your taste buds clamouring for more. EC2: an explanation
EC2 meaning “Experimental Chardonnay number 2”, was Hatton Estates’ short code for the wine when it was being made. EC2 also happens to be the postcode for the City of London. We decided to keep the name EC2 in recognition of the years in the City that owners Michael and Colleen Daymond-King spent paying for their beloved vineyard and winery and as a nod to the hordes of eager drinkers in that wonderful Square Mile who are now the keenest imbibers of this delightful summer drop.
