Hello All!
Thank you for your patience over the past few months as we dealt with a busy Horse of the Year show, grape harvest and the Trade mission to China, followed by a whirlwind trip to the UK and San Francisco. Crazy.
Some of you have been keeping up with the play on the website, thanks for your kind comments- and no I have not lost weight, I’ve just bought some bigger shirts!
The Kelt Capital Horse of the Year show was an event to remember and certainly something we want to be involved with again. Much hilarity, plenty of horses (over 2500 competing over 5 days) and the largest prize money New Zealand Equestrian has ever seen which bought out the competitive edge in all classes especially the final jump off. What a celebration- and what a lot of wine. We will be back! Click here to see some photo’s of the event.
China Free Trade Agreement Signing Beijing in spring is something to behold. Chilly mornings giving way to warm days and peach, cherry and apple blossoms abound. Everything you have ever heard about Beijing and the construction for the Olympics is true x 100. The construction is amazing, a Beijing expat told me that Beijing had 65% of China’s cranes in use, and that China will make and use over 65% of the world cement in the next year! Wow if those numbers are even remotely close it explains the 24 / 7 construction frenzy that is a short walk in downtown Beijing.

New Zealand briefly! A few weeks back in NZ after Beijing and a great dinner party with the kids and friends at Rocco in Auckland I was back on the road to the UK, taking in new restaurants in London, and going to see some of our most loyal customers.
Hatton Estate also has a great deal with a funky retailer in Scotland- learn more about Lockett Bros Wine Merchant by clicking here! I have written a seperate fun and games story about my London tour which I called Taste Modern British!
Check out the "Taste Modern British" tour by clicking here! Fantastic meals in many of London's top restaurants, a vertical tasting of Tahi-ONE at The Dorchester in Park Lane London, and a memorable meal in Scotland which finshed (and finished me off!!) with 30 year old single malts.

A busy flight to San Francisco on the way home allowed a brief respite and then back into it with Dinner at Tra Vigne in the Napa Valley- well worth the trip! I then visited the Wine Merchant at the Ferry Building in downtown San Francisco which boasts a tasting bar and had lunch at the Hog Island Oyster Bar a must for lovers of that particular mollusc.
A wine tasting at The Jug Shop with the crew leaders Chuck and Paige followed by dinner somewhere cool funky and eclectic that escapes me but I am sure when they read this they will tell me!

Phew! what a manic 9 & 1/2 weeks! (there's a movie in that I am sure)
Finally back to earth and in the comfort of home and family, it gives me a chance to reflect on what a great lifestyle this can be if it’s organised well. Or more importantly if I am organised well! Short bursts of travel interspersed with great people and a loving family make the tough bits all the easier to handle. And there’s plenty of tough bits: check out this article I spotted while in the UK! Click here to read the article.
