Hi,
Now that the boss is back from the United Kingdom (you can read about it here) we have to behave ourselves, which means no more wine for lunch every day of the week, just Fridays.
If you would like to join us please feel free.
We were recently joined by Mal and Diane from the Manawatu Wine Club who came by the winery with a little venison for lunch. It was so delicious that we got very little work done after. We had to sample the fine venison with all kinds of red wine, to see which was the greatest partner. All in the name of research, of course. We took some pictures before it got like too much fun, so check them out here. We love getting visitors, especially guests who bring game.
In the theme of delicious game we have put a wonderful recipe of Miro marinated leg of venison up on the website for you to try. If you have a favourite way to cook venison we would love to hear from you, as a lot of us here at Hatton Estate get venison from friends and family who hunt, so new and exciting ways to prepare and eat game are always appreciated.
Last week Hatton Estate attended the Midlands Hawkes Bay Charity Wine Auction 2007. This was the first time we have donated goods, but we have been regular attendees and bidders for quite some time. Many would say it is the highlight of the Hawkes Bay wine calendar. The money raised goes to such a great cause (Cranford Hospice). If you would like to see some of team Hatton having a great time click here. And if you would like to learn more about the auction and how to get in on all the fun next year send us an email and we will put you in touch with the right people.
If you are a Hawkes Bay local and are looking for fun things to do in the evening this late fall then Hatton Estate are providing some delicious wine at the Little Theatre. From June 14 to the 23rd they will be host to a play called Ladies Who Lunch. For more information click here. It will be a really fun night out and you can enjoy a lovely glass of Hatton Estate with the show.
That is it for this week. Now that the boss is home we actually have to do some real work, so it is back to the grindstone for us. More 'research' is required on some of our wines. It is a really hard job this wine business.
The well fed team at Hatton Estate
