The team at Hatton Estate are really proud to announce their new partnership with Kelt Capital Horse of the Year.

For those of you who are a little unfamiliar with the wild world of Horse of the Year it is one of the biggest horse shows in the southern hemisphere, held in the amazing historic A & P Showgrounds in Hastings Hawke's Bay, with a prize purse this year of $500,000! It puts the best Kiwi riders against the best international riders in the world, and is an equestrian spectacular like no other.

This means that 2008 will be the most fun ever. As the official wine sponsor we will be setting up our own bar on site, called the Hat 'n' Whip, so you can come along and enjoy a glass or two of our fine wine whilst enjoying the sunshine and action pack ed activities of KCHoY!

To celebrate this, as well as it being our 15th birthday, we will be offering some killer deals for horse lovers and friends of Hatton Estate.

This week only Hatton Estate EC2 Chardonnay 2006, Miro Merlot 2005 and BSR Cabernet Merlot 2005 are just $16.00 a bottle! That is extreme. This offer is only valid until September 1st 2007.

Order yourselve a Hatton Estate treat today, but you will be limited to a three case maximum. Mix and match, one bottle, three bottles, 6 packs and cases. Email us here with your order.

Hatton Estate wines are now sold in over 500 restaurants in the USA and UK, and almost 30 retail stores. Today we thought we would give a little love to one of our favourite outlets in the UK.

When Michael was last in the UK he actually put in a few hours selling wine at a small but perfectly formed wine shop called Lockett Bros in North Berwick Scotland, about 30 minutes south of Edinburgh. Owner Chris Lockett visited New Z ealand in the summer early this year, rocking up to Hatton Estate in a VW combi van, surf board and all. Chris and Michael tucked into a decent tasting of the full Hatton Estate range, helped along by a generous serving of Michael's special of ham & cheese toasties served a la tractor shed.
Invitations to visit were accepted and pretty soon Michael was in Scotland and a few extra pallets of wine were sailing over to Blighty.

In store tastings at Lockett Bros are a combination of fine wine and the excellent cheeses sold out the back of a truck parked at the front of the store in the high street. Locals who come down to sample the cheeses , pop in for a bottle or two , and what a pleasure it is to sell the odd bottle of Kiwi vino to accompany what was a fine dinner in the offing.

Michael worked on the Saturday he was there, (vary rare) and hopes the bloke he sold the Aquavit and Kummel to, recovered from his experience and is still friends with whoever was hosting that particular dinner party! Lockett Bros list EC2 Chardonnay, Miro Merlot, The Doctor Syrah, Tahi 2004, and the odd bottle of Tahi 2000!

Well that was a lot to get through, but we made it in the end. We hope to have more great horse specials coming up, and we are really looking forward to meeting a lot of you at Kelt Capital Horse of the Year 2008 (more about that to come).

Oh, and a quick reminder that Hatton Estate is once again the wine of choice at the Karajoz Great Blend, which is blending again this coming Thursday (the 30th) and Saturday (the 1st). If you are wanting to find out more, or attend either the Auckland or Wellington event click here, and our artist of the year Sandy Rogers is having another exhibition opening in Wellington on Thursday the 6th of September. Details on our home page. If you need any more information, just drop us a line. We love hearing from you.

Eat well, drink better, and don't forget to get your orders in for the hot Horse of the Year deal.
