Michael Daymond-King


From a career in the financial world, which included 12.5 years in the financial markets of Tokyo, Sydney, Johannesburg, and London, Michael has now taken the leap from the office, into the vineyard.

Michael was tasked with managing the sales process for Hatton Estate wines and the move into our next development phase.

He returned to New Zealand late 2001 to work closely with the family to continue building up Hatton Estate to achieve our goal of making New Zealand's finest red wines.

Believing that 'Great wine is made in the vineyard' Michael, together with the Hatton Estate family are committed to this as a first step on the road to New Zealand's finest wine.

His life dream is to watch his son play cricket in the sunshine.

He has two amazing children and one incredible wife.

He can say STAPLER in 18 different languages (booze may be required to perform this trick).

He will eat anything, you can test him on that.

Sometimes he talks to himself, and occasionally does not finish his sentences.

He is one of the greatest storytellers you will ever meet.
