Treat yourself to a bit of mental R & R and take 5 minutes out of your day for a look at our new website.
Hit reply on your email to take advantage of the celebratory bargain on our 2003 Reserve Cab Sauv/Merlot/Cab Franc blend: Cuisine Magazine 4.5 stars / Cuisine Top 5 Cabernet blend / Best wine under 30 bucks - and for you 10 dollars off per bottle , thats a saving of 120 bucks per case!
The 2006 Harvest has been spectacular - a long dry summer resulting in a delicious vintage: note to self; try to live where grapes grow- they need sun! Another reason to live in Hawkes Bay.
Dining out: Once again my trips to the USA have allowed me the pleasure of dining in more of the world's top restaurants, and in some stunning locations too (it is a really hard job, but someone has to do it). This is where the wine and food becomes more than just refueling and moves into the entertainment arena. To those who have heard the stories at the cellar door, I apologise, to those who haven't here is a taster of further musings to be posted on the website.
- The French Laundry in Napa Valley California matched EC2 Chardonnay with Thomas Kellers latest creations, so did Daniel Boulud's Daniels in New York.
- Tahi our ultra premium Cabernet blend was paired up with bison at Craftsteak at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (try asking for bison at your local supermarket!).
- Aureole at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas has flying angels to deliver Tahi to your table. I kid you not.
- Carsons Cabernets with the gnocchi and pheasant sauce at The WineSellar Brasserie in San Diego was a complete pleasure and a compliment to trying the wine en-route San Francisco to New Zealand when a kind purser on Air New Zealand sent a glass of Carsons Cabernets 2004 back to me in economy from business class. Our wine flies a better class than we do!
If you have been to any of these places we would love to hear your stories.
Dining in: In an attempt to keep warm this winter we have a long running argument in the office over who knows the best winter wine and food match. Jo, our marketing administrator, claims it is this recipe for lamb shanks. Still not convinced? There are more of these to come, so if you could help us out here by letting us know what you think we may be a little closer to settling this gastro-fued and getting some work done.
