At Hatton Estate the party season is in full swing- and there's plenty to celebrate alongside the usual festive holiday events.
To
start with New Zealand's newest wine superstar is our one and only
Cameron Douglas MS, Senior Lecturer at Auckland University. Those who
are sharp would have noticed the MS at the end of Cameron's name - its
his newest and greatest accolade so far in his stellar wine career: the
title of Master Sommelier.
Master
Sommeliers are an elite bunch of people who's lives are dedicted to all
things great and good to do with wine and food. Not only can they
perfectly match your EC2 Chardonnay with a delicately cooked crayfish,
but they can recommend the glassware, the dinner service , the cocktail
for starters, cognac for afterwards and the best cheese with that port
and the cigar too if you are that way inclined! There are only
158 professionals worldwide who have earned the title Master Sommelier
since the first Master Sommelier Diploma Exam was taken in London in
1969 and Cameron is the first ever to pass from the Southern
Hemisphere! Not only did Cameron pass but he received the UK'sLaurent Perrier Grand Siecle trophy for passing the exam with the highest aggregate marks!
At
Hatton Estate we have all been lucky to meet, drink and dine with or in
the company of a good number of Master Somms (note the overly trendy in
crowd-type abbreviation) and if you check out FIND US, most of the restaurants in the USA where our wine is sold have MS in residence.

Our
lucky winner of wine for a year from the recent Newsletter competition
has emailed to say that the first two cases have gone down a treat and
it's amazing how many friends he now has with all the vertical tastings
he's been able to put on in the office and at home! Thanks for the
update Warwick the December case is on its way!

guys know their stuff and give a straight forward honest opinion- which
we like! Their list is impressive at the two stores and now they both
